Plain, shy and serious, Roberta's first job is with a paternalistic pharmaceutical company- as secretary to its young president, Steve Orcutt. Orcutt & Walters is one big friendly family, and Roberta, unable to remain reserved for long, is vulnerable to the attractions of Steve, while squired around by research scientist Kurt Andersen who loves rich Diane Walters. A split over the launching of a new drug- Euphoria- is finally resolved when it proves almost fatal to Diane; Roberta, sure of her feelings for Steve, resigns, but is offered the job she really wants as his wife. Not coy- but definitely demure.
