Reasonable amount of enigma and excitement for Jinky Sanders, 12, enterprising and responsible, when her parents' skiing lodge in the Adirondacks is threatened with failure as it is stalked by the ghost of her great uncle, Jason. With an outbreak of fire, the defection of Pete, a boy she had trusted, an explosion, the Lodge loses its guests, present and potential. As Jinky continues her investigation alone, she is trapped in an old mill, and rescued by Pete. The end of the story brings clarification of the crimes, with the discovery of a valuable garnet mine...Likable, plausible story.
