Fine story of a girl and her horse -- a good tale, with a nice human touch and good riding stuff. Debby Howe's father, Ben, has financial difficulties and is forced to sell out farm and horses and hounds in Quaker Pennsylvania, and to take a job as groom in New England. He and Debby have their hands full bucking his boss, Scrimgoer, who is just as mean as his name, and whose granddaughter is a snob, interested only in winning ribbons, and indifferent to the welfare of her mounts. It all comes out right and is good reading.
