KIRKUS REVIEW

A thoroughgoing biography of one of this country's famous pioneers in the areas of navigation, naval reform, naval power, international scientific cooperation, electrical torpedoes and other allied fields. All of Maury's successes are described from his book The Physical Geography of the Sea to his professorship of meteorology. This is a diligent survey of a meritorious life with obvious appeal for the sea-legged male.
