ONCE AT WOODHALL

This falls into the category of ""tell us a true story about when you were a little girl"" -- just as does The Three Little Warrens by Sarah Wheelock, reviewed in the last issue (P. 247). A very human story about a little girl in a Quaker family in Illinois, in the period just before the Civil War, and, briefly, through the years of the War and up to the assassination of Lincoln. The children on the farm had a perfect time -- and the period and the setting come alive in the recounting of their delightful adventures. There's a note of authenticity that suggests that these chapters are based on family material. Nice black and whites.
