Monkey stories seem to have unfailing appeal for some children, and here is a collection of true stories, based on ship diaries and other primary sources. To be sure, the collection starts off with some Aesop fables, but the rest of the tales actually happened, and show monkeys as pets, as mascots, as creatures in cages and out.
