KIRKUS REVIEW

A history of the Quakers, from George Fox, three hundred years ago, up to the work of the Quakers in the current war. There's Mary Fisher, there's William Robinson who built a ship to carry the Quakers to America, there's Mary Dyer, Martyr of the Boston Common; there's discussion of the Quakers and slavery, the Quakers in the First World War, the Quakers in the present war. Good material, marred by too much saccharine and a tendency to write down.
