Call is superior on riding technique: she examines posture, breathing, ankling, cadence, gear changing, braking, city riding, country riding, and warding off aggressive dogs. A brief pep talk on physical fitness is buttressed by an analysis of endurance exercises (as opposed to ""stop and go"" sports) and caloric charts. Finally she offers advice on the short trip and the long tour. The book is broad in scope; a clean, detailed dissection of cycling. There have, however, been many earlier contenders.
