TEE MEMOIRS OF SENATOR BROWN, A CAPITOL CAT

I suppose you wonder why a cat feels it necessary to write a book."" Yes, we had asked ourselves that question and if we may borrow the floor for a moment, Senator, we'd like to propose our own answer. In this particular case it might have something, to do with the fact that Mrs. Leighton's first book, My Thirty Years Backstairs at the White House, was enough of a curiosity item to wander onto the Best Seller lists. Unfortunately we cannot predict the same future for Senator Brown's memeows which are filled with kittenish cliche -- his weekly mews-lettershis two legged secretary Kitten Galore, etc. His personal history includes his political debut, his first Congressional Investigation to ""find out what was becoming of Ike's golf balls on his south lawn putting green,"" his infatuation with Cleopatra (although he's the number one cat on the Washington Bachelor list); his trials as a Psycho Cat (he wanted to be a Tiger); and his various projects- ""Mouse on the Moon"", etc. We hate to be catty but Pffffffffooey.
