This is the third edition -- completely revised and enlarged -- of the New York Times maps. First published in 1942 -- the plan is now changed in light of shifting tides of war. Two double-page maps of the war in the Western and Eastern hemispheres, two global air-maps have been added, along with a number of loss vital additions. Detailed maps of the invasions of Sicily and Italy -- of the Russian advance -- show the trends in the months since the last revision (1943), but the omission of detailed maps of the Channel ports, of Normandy, Brittany, Belgium and Holland already date the book, as inevitably any book of published maps dates quickly. This is, however, exceedingly useful for ready reference.
