Does America hang up its etiquette at night? That is the question this book asks -- and answers in satirical vein, hilariously funny at times, a bit forced at others. Best characterized through a few quotations: ""Remember that no one can be completely dignified in bed, except a corpse."" ""You wouldn't think of singing at the top of your lungs in a train commuting to town. At least, you would only think of it once."" ""Necessity, the mother of ideas, gave birth to Bundling. Necessity now has a lot of granddaughters."" ""To most people, undressing is not so much an art as it is a coming to pieces."" Under suggestions of how to humiliate your husband, the following seemed apt: ""In taking off your dress, be sure to tell him that all your friends call it Old Faithful""...""After using your husband's last new blade, do not wash and wipe the razor."" Under corresponding advice to the husband: ""Deposit your wet overcoat on the satin bedspread""...""Smear the shelf in the bathroom with toothpaste, and do not replace the cap."" Perhaps these samples speak for themselves, -- there's thinly disguised and bitter -- sometimes -- truth in the pages, but the manner of delivering it is not intended for those lacking in humor or for the easily shocked.
