MONTMARTRE A VINGT ANS: ""Montmartre At Twenty

By

Publisher: Sequana Selection Albin Michel

This is a sequal to A Voix Basse, and perhaps of more general interest than the former by the very nature of its content. Montmartre in 1910, ""the Bohemians of the great tradition,"" artists and places. Sketches and anecdotes of many well known people, Daragnès, Utrillo, Picasso, Willy, and with two outstanding pieces of interpretative analysis on Paul Bourget and Katherine Mansfield, both of whom he knew very well. Interspersed with these are pen portraits of eccentrics, poseurs, degenerates. Caroo is above all generous, lyrical, almost extravagant in his good will toward all, and patently nostalgic in his recapturing of days gone by.
