THE OXFORD ANNOTATED BIBLE

Here is an edition of the Bible which promises to be exceedingly useful to all Bible students. Here in one volume is to be found not only the Bible text (revised standard version), but also introductions to the Old and New Testament, giving general background, an introduction to each book dealing with composition, authorship, date and content, annotation for each chapter of every book, on the appropriate page, which sheds light on the verses under consideration, several special articles which give further information on the understanding of the Bible, the geography, history and archaeology of Bible lands, and an index of the chief annotations. All of this material is written by recognized scholars according to their special ability but none of their writing is abstrusely beyond the comprehension of any mature Bible Student. There is also a section of 32 maps, beautifully printed and three- dimensional in effect. This Bible, along with the new Oxford Bible Atlas comprise a whole new set of tools for Bible study which will surely prove to be more and more indispensable.
