KIRKUS REVIEW

Set in Western United States in the first decade of the 1800's this is the story of two lesser known tribes of Indians, the Nimapus and the Absaroka. It is the story of their alliance against the marauding Blackfeet and of a journey across the Rocky Mountains to the land of the sun. Rich in specific detail of Indian life, craft, and war practices, explicit in its depiction of Indian community life, this is the a story more interesting for the anthropological information it imparts than for its fictional content.
