KIRKUS REVIEW

Presented first as the Drew Lectures in Biography, the chapters of this book tell of six English contributors to American thought and action: James Edward Oglethorpe, John Wesley, George Whitefield, Thomas Paine, George Berkeley and William Wilberforce. Written by a Methodist bishop, this book should be of biographical and historical interest to Protestants. Adequate but uninspired.
