YOUNG MEDICINE MAN

Little Eagle, a Sioux, is the hero of this author's latest Indian story. Gauche in his youthful efforts to become a good horseman and hunter, Little Eagle is taken on by Clawing Bear the tribal medicine man, who teaches him how to and how to think. Working hard, Little Eagle is able not only to improve his skills incipient warrior, but to save his tribe from attack by making a false camp that misleads a band of Crows. An overlay of Indian customs and war whoops dress up an otherwise trite story that depends on simple vocabulary and melodrama for appeal.
