KIRKUS REVIEW

A story which should stand well on the Catholic reading lists. An Irish love story centering around a tempestuous youth, a beggar and a scholar, teaching where he could, rebelling against maladjustments and getting himself and his friends into trouble. Finally he met and loved a devout little Irish girl, who converts him into a more plastic mood, better tuned to life. Throughout there is that typical vein of Irish mysticism, blurring the line between reality and imagination. Sell to those who like Irish stories, to Catholics, to idealists.
