WOMEN IN THE WIND by Francis Walton

Ten women fly the derby course from Los Angeles to Cleveland -- at no time racing for the sake of the race. Jealousy, love, ambition, these are the spurs, and the flying reflects the temperamental and emotional background. Situations grow tense between the contestants as unexplained troubles accumulate. Can't think of any other adult novel on this subject -- and this is distinctly above the ""run of the mill"" -- though not top notch, and certainly not flattering to women in aviation. A book for rental libraries.
