A fanciful little counting book with imaginative illustrations by the author. Jeanne-Marie (sits under a tree) talks seriously to her sheep Patapon and thinks of all the things she would be able to buy if Patapon had 1,2,3, etc. lambs. The dream-lambs (which appear, geometrically arranged in the pictures) reach the number of seven, or eight, nine or ten, and Jeanne-Marie imagines she could buy a little house. But Patapon has just one lamb and one pair of socks for Jeanne-Marie. The repetition and simplicity are effective in both pictures and text.
