ameron Walker's lust for sea diving on the California coast seems to be shared by the author who writes about the art with dexterity. Cam and his brother Steve buy a boat and begin diving for abalones to support their family when Mr. Walker is incapacitated by arthritis. The boys encounter the competition of the ruthless unionized divers and struggle to avoid countless traps which are set for them. The character studies are not outstanding, but this adventure story, which captures the mystery of sea diving, moves swiftly from beginning to end. It will command the attention of young boys, especially aspiring sea divers.
