AN UP AND COMING MAN

When one of Ridley's corrupt town councillors is found drowned, a lot of folk in this English town call it suicide--a suicide brought on by the investigative reporting of semi-obnoxious, semi-heroic Tommy Tompkins of the Ridley Guardian. So Tommy must get to the bottom of that murderous, rent-racketeering, illegal-alien scandal if he wants to clear his name. Before he does so, there'll be more fake accident-suicides, a teatime showdown with the Master Criminal (a town councillor with big ambitions), authentic--if a bit dull--details on redevelopment planning, and only Tommy's cheeky-to-churlish narrating voice to keep you from strolling off to the nearest pub.
