GOD'S LOADED DICE: Alaska 1897-1930

The reminiscences of an adventurous youth who answered the call of the Klondike, wanted to make a quick fortune and stayed to spend most of his life there. Morgan left New York in 1897 with a five thousand dollar stake, picked up companions on the trip to Seattle, found the trip up to Dawson treacherous. There are stories of the prospectors, clerks, gamblers, hard drinkers and sporting ladies first lured by gold to Dawson; his own experiences with claims, with an overland freight service, with the near-hit on a million dollar mine. On his last dollar, Morgan went to sea for a livelihood, spent the rest of his career with a steamship line largely in Alaskan waters. Outdoor, authentic adventure- for a male market.
