FEEDING THE LIONS: An Algonquin Cook Book

A book husbands will vote for -- this collection of recipes and hints on foods collected by the manager of the Algonquin Hotel. To point his morals, as it were, he inserts throughout the text, based comments, letters etc. from patrons whose names carry weight in the literary, artistic, dramatic world. Favorite foods -- suggested inclusions -- new peoples, etc. Here is American cooking at its best, for even the foods which we inherited from abroad are served up with that fillip that first rate American gastronomy demands. The net result is neither regional nor foreign -- but substantial, provocative and tasty withal.
