In brisk, tough lingo, a newspaperman tells of the rise and fall of the Red Riders, a vigilante organization dedicated to patriotism and violence. A drunk with a gift of rhetoric, a crook who knows the byways of leeching as well as leeching, and a slut form the worthy (?) triumvirate at the controls. Before long, glorified by secret insignia, scarlet gowns and magic waters, the following reaches the millions and the leaders coin money. Negroes, Communists, Catholics or Jews -- the focus of their hate varies with the locale. Violence goes unchecked, but at the close it ricochets on the trinity and two are assassinated. Well done and revealing, but unpleasant.
