Skiing, ice hockey, basketball, track, cross country racing are the sports about which this first rate collection of sports and school stories tells. Each story, in addition to providing virtually play by play account of a specific game or contest, contains a kernel of sound moral principle, character building. There is the usual roster of characters,- the bad sport, the smart clook, the star who wants to solo, the runt who turns into a winner; there's humor and adventure, good dialogue, with authentic prep school, high school and undergraduate college wisecracks; there's not much about school other than sports, but a general feel of bull sessions and comradeship, school and team intrigue, and the sense of being on the inside looking out. Sure market among boys- and having been a Ralph Henry Barbour fan in my early teens, I don't think the market is limited to boys. Among the authors are many names familiar to readers of boys' magazines,- B.J. Chute, John Gartner, G.M. Peterson, Charles Muller, W.T. Person, and others.
