A MODERN DEMONOLOGY by Frank Getlein

A MODERN DEMONOLOGY

By

Publisher: Clarkson Potter

Casting a nostalgic eye back to demonologies of the 17th-century, Mr. Getlein proceeds to ferret out the demons of modern society. He parodies many popular anti-Catholic and anti-Jewish notions, which have new guises in 1961. He attacks the A.M.A., Public Relations men, certain aspects of modern art, literature and criticism, esoteric scholarship, our ""machine mania"", and many of the relatively ""sophisticated"" issues as they are being argued on our public scene. Extremely topical topics are linked quasi-casually by a process of free association; some of it gets tedious but illustrated by Robert Osborn it will surely spark some immediate laughter and serious afterthoughts.
