FIGHTING MAN by Frank Gruber

FIGHTING MAN

By

Publisher: Rinehart

Historical marginalia for a wide-open tale of Kansas in the '60's, and of Jim Bancer who had never been able to bury his involuntary involvement in Quantrell's massacre some nine years back. Now, under an alias, Dancer is appointed marshall in newrich Lanyard, with its rotten if remunerative system of justice, its bullying boss-man, um, whose niece Dancer loves. Finally rebelling against Slocum, Dancer is booked for a hanging, saved by Jesse James, cleared on his own name, and all is quieter on the western front. Good.
