KIRKUS REVIEW

Johnny Fletcher and Sam Cragg, flat broke again, in Chicago, are forced to go to work in a leather factory and find a corpse their first day. Police investigation is offset by private snooping by Johnny and Sam; there is a gang fight in Little Italy; Johnny gets taken for a ride and is left for dead; he uncovers bookies, unsavory pasts, blackmail and makes good. Operation Standard and routine roughness for Fletcher fans.
