KIRKUS REVIEW

Topnotch story, that of Jim Chapman, driven after the Civil War to outlawry and for ten years a legend in the bank and train robberies through the midwest as he seeks vengeance on the Northerners. Vickers, and his detective agency, finally catch him by underhand means. Sympathetic portrayal of Chapman and the career into which circumstances forced him lifts this out of the usual Western field.
