A jaunty tale of make believe by the author- artist of Nothing to Wear But Clothes (p. 632, 1953) and The Mailbox Takes a Holiday (p. 660, 1953) points out a moral as the Pims- father, Jeff and June- discover there's no place like home after their adventurings. Transported by the wishing shoe first to a medieval castle, then to the South Seas, and finally to a rich man's flossy estate, the Pims find the exotic qualities of each tempered by inconveniences. Pleasantly slapstick humor abounds as they attempt to deal with their surroundings and come happily home again.
