By

Pub Date: July 28th, 1939
Publisher: Doubleday, Doran

A story of the current changes in Mexico and an investigation of the American attitude toward Mexican affairs. Thorough resume of oil expropriations, land problems, labor and its controlling factors, the character of Cardenas, his aides, his generals, state and church relations, totalitarian intrigue, the questionable benefits accruing from the new regime. He concludes that there are six practical types of policies for America to follow, but that revolution is Mexico's fate and uncertainty her crime. The author was expelled from Mexico and his post as correspondent for the N. Y. Times in February last, is inevitably somewhat biased in his interpretation, though exact in his use of factual material.
