THE NEUTRAL GROUND

This story is linked with its predecessors, Renown -- If Not Victory, by some of the same characters, and further exploration of the history of the Neutral Ground in Westchester during the American Revolution. The story is based on the divergent activities of two friends, one of whom wins distinction in the Continental Army, the other in his attempts to save the manor system he had known and loved. The period extends from 1775-1783, with romance complicating the job of ""policeman, horse thief and master spy"" to which Trowbridge of the Continentals is committed. Plenty of factual background and characters -- a conscientious re-creating of the period. Not inspired, but good solid reading for those who like that type of historical fiction.
