Four Chinese stories in fake lyrical, would-be glamorous, lush manner. The first deals with Kutani, who repels her suitors and runs off with a penniless troubador; the second is a horror story, on the Pygmalion theme; the third is the story of an American's attempt to test the authenticity of Confucius' writings, and his discovery of Confucius' descendants; and the fourth is the story of five men in love with one woman, only to find her treacherous and superficial. Very flowery -- very phony.
