KIRKUS REVIEW

Tongue in the cheek England of the 17th century. The hero a cad, fortune seeker, with an eye to the best chance -- against a background of press gangs, wily business deals, inefficiency, graft and corruption. A good rowdy tale, with not a few chuckles in the plain speaking. Men should like it -- die hards will frown on it -- rather specialized customer appeal somewhat limited.
