Pub Date: Sept. 10th, 1934

The author is well known through his broadcasting and through his columns in the Baltimore Sun, and here presents to a wider public, a dispassionate view of the Mad Tea Party that is Washington in the past year and of Roosevelt as a rather surprised-but-secretly-pleased-with-the-madness-of-it-all Alice. It makes good reading and on the whole is sane reporting, though one emerges a bit breathless and rather frightened. There is keen perception and a dry wit in the telling, and both sides of the picture are presented, though the general attitude is more than a bit caustic. A book that is sure to arouse a good deal of controversy, and that should be on all public library shelves and available through circulating libraries as well as over the counter.
