THE PRESIDENT'S MYSTERY STORY by Franklin D. Roosevelt

THE PRESIDENT'S MYSTERY STORY

By

Publisher: Farrar & Rinehart

A stunt of cooperative writing. The president ""poses the question"" to six writers; the result is a story told up to a point by one, continued from there by another, much in the fashion of the old familiar parlor paper game. The story of a man who wanted to lose his identity (and along with it an unwanted life), and who goes to extravagant extremes to accomplish this. Then -- just as the last step is taken --circumstances make it seem that his wife has killed him, and he tries to stage a comeback, which would have failed if his dog had not recognized him. A farfetched and rather absurd denouement --but its a good publicity stunt!
