YOU CAN WHITTLE AND CARVE

Excellent basic book (see report on P. 631 on book on chip carving). The authors discuss the tools, how to use them, how to choose the woods, etc., illustrating each point, each step with diagrams or photographs. Then they take successive projects, of increasing difficulty, -- plaques, book ends, jewelry, figure carving, (animals and humans) -- suggesting designs, and indicating the process. The final section deals with finishes. Again a valuable book for craft classes.
