KIRKUS REVIEW

A tale of the Vikings told with more zest for adventure and drama than most of its kind. There is none of the archaic hero saga, but rather a modern recapturing of a remote period, with characters that are far from heroic in stature, and a pace that is more usual in a picaresque adventure tale. The period is the tenth century; the scene shifts from ancient Denmark, to Moorish Spain, and the England of early Christian days. Red Orm is quite a lad. Strong meat, this.
