EXPLORING THE PSYCHIC WORLD by Fred Archer

EXPLORING THE PSYCHIC WORLD

The author, editor of London's Psychic News for sixteen years, was in a position to assemble a variety of material--stories, reports, studies of psychic phenomena. Taking a common sense line between ""unbelievable credulity and incredible unbelief,"" he analyzes, examines and entertains. Surprising the notables who held heterodoxical beliefs and experience: Queen Victoria indulged in clandestine spiritual activity after the death of Prince Albert, Sir Winston Churchill was a practitioner of automatic writing and on at least one occasion showed a talent for precognition. In this continued welter of information, readers may be particularly astonished to find that Queen Wilhelmina fainted on seeing Lincoln's ghost in the White House. This apparition has been attested to by others--Roosevelt, Margaret Truman, etc. There is a section on mediums, famous and phoney, magicians, UFO's, healers as well as laymen with peculiar talents. Mr. Archer seems a practical enthusiast and he does a nice comparison of spiritualism and Christianity. More sound than the average effusive investigations in this area.
