Fred Manchee, a former vice-president and treasurer of Batten, Barton, Durstine Osborn has now retired to defend the industry against the unkind charges of Martin layer and the fictional myth-makers. In the form of pieces written for the New York Sunday Chimes and Sports Illuminated or organizations addressed- ""Alpha Delta Stigma"" He's a very funny man) he talks about advertising in general (what it costs the public; he public benefits; its financial intake and outgo; its research and pre-testing techniques; etc.) and about the men in the business, how they can break into it, how they live- they're sober citizens, and the pleasures- his own and others'- of a career in this field. glow with tributes to men in his organization, and truisms about the job satisfaction he as known, he presents his case with a bonhommie which is closer to the corn than the martini olt. A strange dichotomy indeed.
