KIRKUS REVIEW

Another biography of a merchant ship in convoy to Russia --recalling the recent and excellent There Go The Ships. This one is distinguished by tension building up to a grand fourday battle picture, ending with a sensational rescue, unique in my reading. A first rate yarn, of action and people, of the lure of adventure and danger and high pay, of human cussedness redeeming itself under stress, of the balance of results against costs, the growing respect for the British and hatred of the enemy, and the knowledge of a job to be done.
