LIEF ERIKSON THE LUCKY by Frederic A. Kummer Kirkus Star

LIEF ERIKSON THE LUCKY

One of the most distinguished books among current season juveniles -- and, for adults, the most interesting version of the biographies of Leif Erickson I have read. From a boyhood in Iceland to the end of his career in the new world of which he probably saw more than any white man over a period of 200 years, the story is told with zest and a keen sense of color and drama. A scholarly approach gives a note of authenticity to the picture of the period, and the author has skilfully blended known facts and legend so that the whole rings true. Good reading.
