ROME AND REUNION

Pub Date: Feb. 18th, 1965
Publisher: Oxford

The distinguished professor emeritus of New Testament at Union Theological makes a wise and realistic contribution to the discussion of the Ecumenical with this study of the major issues and problems that underlay the possibility of any movement toward reunion between Rome and Protestantism. These issues include, Scripture and Tradition, the Papacy, Mariolatry, and censorship. The author has been one of the Protestant observers at the Rome Councils and writes both with and - generous appreciation of the Roman Church, while he warns against too facile an optimism about reunion.
