Brown's capacity for grinding them out will soon rival Edgar Wallace. This is his seventh in less than three years. The science fiction angle has hit a new note in some of the stories. The carnival world has backgrounded two of them. And the general overall impression is of fast paced narrative, competent but not distinguished plotting and characterization....This is the fourth in which Ed and his Uncle Ambrose, recently of carnival fame, play a part, with Ed centre on -- and his uncle in a disappearing act which puts the whole agency and the homicide squad on the prowl. There's a number rackets angle here, and a solution (for Uncle Ed a happy one) which involves footwork and persistence rather than wits. Chicago setting.
