And the general overall impression is of fast paced narrative, competent but not distinguished plotting and characterization....This is the fourth in which Ed and his Uncle Ambrose, recently of carnival fame, play a part, with Ed centre on -- and his uncle in a disappearing act which puts the whole agency and the homicide squad on the prowl. There's a number rackets angle here, and a solution (for Uncle Ed a happy one) which involves footwork and persistence rather than wits. Chicago setting.
