GATHER, DARKNESS

Science-fiction which, employing all the supersonic equipment, nevertheless concentrates on the psychological control of mass thinking and management. In the city of Megatheopolis, the Hierarchy, whose domination is sought by Goniface, is confronted by rumors of witchcraft, by the threats of Jarles who sees the truth of the slave state the Hierarchy has created. Jarles is taken care of by a personality change, but Sathanas and his followers are harder to defeat. Goniface makes his attempts to restore the people's faith by showing how the magic works, but it is the witches and the warlocks who win out, saved by their science bred familiars, and the Hierarchy falls -- with a tremendous crash. Not topranking in this field.
