THE OREATEST BOOK EVER WRITTEN

Pub Date: Nov. 1st, 1951
Publisher: Doubleday

As Fulton Oursler describes the life of the Christ as The Greatest Story Ever Told here he gives to his book on the Old Testament the title The Greatest Book Ever Written. This is really the Old Testament retold in magazine and newspaper English at which Oursler is a past master. He accepts the story unfolded in the Old Testament as told, with no attempt to apply the results of Biblical criticism or to go into any extended painting in historical or cultural background. He makes of the stories about Adam and Eve, Abraham, Moses, David and all the rest human interest stories such as might be included in the Sunday paper or the Reader's Digest. There is no ecclesiastical or theological bias so that both Protestants and Catholics could find the book acceptable. Could be used by Sunday School teachers for supplementary material.
