KIRKUS REVIEW

A far cry from PAGEANT is this story, verging on the James Oliver Curwood geace, with a salutary gesture of debunking the immunity from vice of the wide open spaces, and the plaster saintdom of the Canadian Mounties. None the less, the flavor there, and the book has the elements of greater mass popularity than did the much finer PAGEANT. It is the story of the undying (even though fluctuating) love of Kirk Regard and MacDonald's Tamsin, and it is a story that makes the Yukon territory come alive, with its undercurrent of the strange and relentless effect of that vast and little known country on its oddly assorted residents.
