We"" discovered that Lucy the cat was missing on the day we were packing up at the summer place to return to the city. We waited an extra rainy day and looked in all her favorite places, but she never turned up. ""Mom said, 'No matter how much/ she loves us, she has to be free.'"" . . . But ""if you love someone/ You can't help worrying about them."" Verity, without much processing. . . just a subdued, sympathetic echo. And Ross' broken lines of prose are reinforced by the hint of end-of-summer melancholy in Ingrid Fetz's fine line drawings.
