THE INVESTMENT CONCESSION

Mr. D'Arcy is a member of a small group known as Investment Counsel which has been very successful in portfolio management and he outlines here the basic principles of managing money in the market (2400 common stocks, 4000 active unlisted stocks to choose from) and the objectives of good advice (conservation and growth of principal: procurement of income). Very briefly, very basically, he discusses the questions of balance, diversification, long-term outlook, fees, taxes, trusts, mutual funds, etc., etc. for the beginning investor who would be wise to use professional help. A firm, sound primer but in view of the many books of this kind available, it may not be what is known on the street as an attractive issue- except as a beginner's book.
