BEST SERMONS -- 1944 Selection

By

Publisher: Ziff-Davis

Whether or not the fifty-two sermons published in this volume are the ""best sermons"" of 1944, they certainly represent the preaching of most of the acknowledged religious leaders of our day. They are broadly representative church leaders, too, for while most of them are American, there are included representatives of the British and Continental pulpit, while the sermon of one Chinese preacher adds a touch, but just a touch, of ecumenicity to the volume. Eleven of the sermons are by Roman Catholic leaders, five by prominent Jewish rabbis. The rest are by Protestant preachers broadly representative of the various denominations. Ministers who wish to know what their prominent colleagues are preaching about and how, laymen who wish to study the trends of contemporary preaching, and others who like to read sermons will be glad to have this volume.
